Yesterday's match was played at Watford Boys Grammar. The ground was in good condition but the pitch a bit slow and soft. Kieran, Wesley’s captain for the day won the toss and elected to bat. In the warm up, the team focused on hitting through the line of the ball and keeping there heads still whilst doing that.

The first innings started off well with Liam Dick creaming cover drives regularly getting Wesley off to a good start. As they lost a couple of quick wickets through false shots, Dick and Thomas consolidated through the middle overs. Another quick fall of wickets left Dick out after a top score of 45. Wolters, Rath and Cundall all had little cameos at the end leaving Wesley’s first innings score of 143.

Opening the bowling, Rabl and Will Mayhood used the fresh kooka well both taking wickets in consecutive overs to get the boys in a good position. A couple of bad balls per over through the middle let the pressure off the batsmen and the game was evenly in balance at drinks. Cundall brought on after drinks was working his magic from ball one creating opportunities consistently. Kapoor chipped in large and with 3 wickets in 2 overs we were held in good position. The boys dropped off in the field for a couple of overs and let the batsmen get on top once again. Cundall finishing his spell taking 3 wickets respectively, left Watford 9 down with 30 runs to win. To the Watford boys credit they batted 9 overs and won the game with 7 balls remaining.

The lads were disappointed with the result but cheered up quickly once pizza, a game of soccer and a game of AFL was played with the Watford boys.

In the future, the team would like to improve on rotating the strike, cutting down runs from the boundary and bowling less bad balls in an over.
