Wesley vs Eton College

Wesley played Eton College yesterday at the Upper Club ground in Game 1 of the Silk Trophy. The Upper Club is Eton’s first XI ground and is one of the most highly regarded schoolboy grounds and pitches in England. The outfield was fast but the pitch was reasonably slow with a few spots that took off and a few that kept low.

We batted first and got off to a slow start with the loss of a few quick wickets. Kieren and Saksham got us back on track with a good partnership. Kieren stayed at the crease as we lost wickets through the middle overs and ended up with 72. Late cameos from Dicko, Will and Mitch got us to a respectable total of 183.

We then came out strongly with the ball having them 5/40 after the opening spell including a Dylan Thomas 3for. Unfortunately their number 6 and 7 both batted very well and were chance less, each made 60’s to chase us down with a few overs to spare. Disappointing as the loss was, the boys efforts was very good and we are looking to improve over the next few days.
